Dioxycle announces multi-year partnership with L’Oréal Groupe

REDEFINING MATERIALS: DIOXYCLE BRINGS CARBON ELECTROLYSIS TO BEAUTY’S PACKAGING

PARIS, France, March 4, 2025

DIOXYCLE, a clean chemicals company pioneering a new wave of sustainable chemical manufacturing technologies, today announced a multi-year partnership with L’ORÉAL to transform captured carbon emissions into high-performance, sustainable packaging materials.

Using carbon electrolysis, DIOXYCLE transforms captured CO or CO₂ emissions into sustainable ethylene, the building block of polyethylene, one of the most widely used packaging materials vastly produced from fossil fuels today.

This innovative approach complements existing solutions like recycling and bio-based materials by providing a new and abundant source of renewable carbon – captured carbon emissions. Unlike some alternatives, DIOXYCLE’s ‘drop-in’ solution delivers virgin-quality performance while dramatically reducing carbon footprint, offering a rare combination of no-compromise sustainability and functionality.

This pioneering partnership reflects a shared ambition to accelerate scalable climate solutions within the beauty industry and beyond. By supporting DIOXYCLE’s breakthrough technology, L’ORÉAL strengthens its leadership in sustainable material innovation, introducing polyethylene made via carbon electrolysis into its packaging portfolio. This partnership is an asset for L’ORÉAL as Scope 3 emissions represent the largest share of emissions companies aim to address (e.g. purchase goods and services).

DIOXYCLE and L’OREAL help redefine what’s possible for the next generation of packaging: circular, scalable, and designed for uncompromising quality.

“By partnering with a global beauty group that demands the highest standards of excellence, we’re proving that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand,” said Dr. Sarah Lamaison, CEO and Co-Founder of DIOXYCLE. “L’ORÉAL’s leadership in adopting scalable climate solutions sets a powerful precedent and brings us closer to a circular carbon-based chemical industry.”

“As a world leader in beauty, L’Oréal operationalizes future-forward technologies. The conversion of carbon emissions into innovative materials unlocks unprecedented avenues for increasingly desirable, high-performing, and sustainable packaging, paving the way for a new era of environmental footprint reduction for our industry and beyond.” Jacques Playe, SVP Global Development Packaging, L’Oréal Groupe.
